Leadership Programs
CILT
Campers in Leadership Training (CILT) is an intensive co-ed leadership experience shaping campers into leaders.
Only CILT 2 will run this year
CILT 1 will run again summer 2026
We are re-evaluating our CILT program. It is something we often do to make sure we are doing our best to train our future staff to relevantly minister to the culture they are living in.
Team Elijah
THE coolest kids at camp, Team Elijah (TE) is an exclusive and free program. Campers must apply and be interviewed for the week/weeks desired (consecutive weeks are discouraged due to the nature of the program).
TE is led by role models who love Jesus and are excited to have your camper on their team.
TE crews focus on teamwork through large group projects around camp and daily camp needs in the dish room, dinning hall, barn, and grounds maintenance.
TE participate in all-camp evening activities, campfire hangouts, group Bible study on the shore of Lake Huron, and other special evening activities.
After a week serving on Team Elijah, HFCC is honored to provide a letter stating the type of work and number of hours served for high school graduation or National Honors Society requirements.
CILT
Two-summer mentoring leadership program
-
Summer - two weeks at camp as a CILT I.
-
Winter - Meet with mentor, complete requirements
-
Summer - three weeks at camp as a CILT II.
CILT is designed for young men and women who want to take the next step in their faith journey and leadership practice.
The CILT program intentionally focuses on developing and equipping Godly staff members to serve in camp ministry.
CILTs study Scripture, lead Bible studies, cultivate outdoor and camping skills. CILTs are encouraged to lead with their strengths and partner to overcome challenges, increasing self-confidence.
CILTs declare a 'major' and achieve top-award levels for these camp activities, preparing to become instructors themselves.
Through mentorship, CILTs grow to be Godly, dedicated, servant-leaders of Christ.
Participation in the program requires a short application and interview process.
Open to young men and women who have completed 10th grade.
Staff
The key to an
extraordinary mentorship
A select group of seasoned mentors head up the TE and CILT programs, preparing all year to train up the next generation of Christian leadership.
These mentors balance teaching and coaching to facilitate the growth of campers.
Campers stay in comfortable cabins or tents with the Team Elijah or CILT counselor and other campers in their program.
