Our leadership training are structured to prepare teens for the task of leading our camp family, present and future, to a saving knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ through the experience they have at HFCC. Although we do not require our staff to have completed one of our leadership training programs, we encourage their growth through these programs as they teach Biblical leadership skills and equip these individuals with tools they would not learn elsewhere. We currently have two leadership programs: C.I.L.T. and B.U.I.L.T.
These programs are similar in format. They can usually be completed in two years. The programs involve year-round participation through independent-study-type learning. Participants meet with their respective C.I.L.T. or B.U.I.L.T. coordinator(s) for instruction sessions during the off season. During the summer, the participants spend two weeks on site at Camp CedarRidge practicing outdoor skills and putting what they have learned throughout the rest of the year into practice.
Both of these programs combine a variety of teaching techniques - lecture, reading, and hands-on practical experiences. Through these, teens are challenged to develop leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives. There is also a strong focus on personal Bible Study and character development as they learn the importance of being spiritual leaders.
One graduate said "CILT gave me the opportunity to grow in the most important way possible, spiritually. It is amazing how much one year can teach a person. It is also amazing how close a group of young adults can become by serving the Lord together...it is one of the most influential experiences I have had in my life and it has helped to me find who I am."
